WORLD PREMIERE and BEHYDRO hydrogen engine at Europort

Less than 2 weeks to go! From the 2nd till the 5th of November, Europort will be the place to be where a lot of novelties will be presented to the international maritime industry. And ABC cannot be absent at this important event. On stand 1201, located in hall 1, ABC will present a world premiere to the general public for the first time and also show a BEH2YDRO dual fuel hydrogen engine.

WORLD PREMIERE
Mark Tuesday 2 November at 15h in your agenda. On its booth, ABC will present an important world premiere that will set the tone in the shipping industry!
In its more than 100 years of existence, the company has already presented many (world) premieres. In 2017, it was the first engine manufacturer to receive type approval from Bureau Veritas for its hybrid solutions. In 2018, a joint venture was established with CMB and the following year, the BEH2YDRO dual fuel hydrogen engines were launched. And this year in May, ABC was the first in the world to receive the official EU Stage V certificate for its DZC engines which limits the emission of nitrogen oxides and soot particles to very low values.

BEH2YDRO
The joint venture between Anglo Belgian Corporation (ABC) and Compagnie Maritime Belge (CMB) is unique because of its high level of involvement in hydrogen R&D. This partnership is very important for the near future of hydrogen development for heavy-duty applications.

BEH2YDRO stands for the development of hydrogen applications in the maritime sector:

  • reducing CO2 emissions at sea and on land
  • investing in R&D
  • development of hydrogen dual fuel and spark ignited engines
  • storage of hydrogen
  • use of hydrogen in various applications

ABC's DZC engine is already "hydrogen ready" in a dual fuel version (DZD - 85% H2 gas & 15% liquid fuel). This hydrogen engine is available with 6, 8, 12 or 16 cylinders and has a power output from 1.000 up to 2.670 kW. With a dual fuel hydrogen engine, CO2 emissions are greatly reduced due to the combustion of hydrogen. The DZD hydrogen engine can also be combined with an after-treatment system in which the smaller proportion of diesel that is burned can be filtered through a particle filter for the soot particles and a catalytic converter for the nitrogen gases. The ultra-low CO2 emissions combined with the ultra-low emissions of soot particles and nitrogen succeed in meeting the latest and stringent emission standards worldwide!
