08 Dec 2025

The Overseas Patrol Vessel (POM – Patrouilleur Outre-Mer) Jean Tranape was formally christened last Thursday at the Socarenam shipyard in Calais, marking a significant milestone in the French Navy’s fleet modernisation programme.

Powered by two robust ABC 16-cylinder engines, the Jean Tranape is the fourth in a series of six new vessels designed to support France’s sovereignty and overseas missions. The ship is scheduled to depart shortly for New Caledonia, where it will join its operational fleet.

ABC expressed its best wishes to the crew for safe and successful operations, noting its pride in contributing to a programme of strategic national importance. The company also extended its appreciation to all project partners for their effective collaboration.
