16 Jun 2023

Anglo Belgian Corporation (ABC) is delighted to announce that Luc Mattheeuws, Development Engineer at ABC, has received the Best Paper Award at the World Combustion Engines Congress of CIMAC in Busan, Korea. The paper describes the successful integration of hydrogen combustion technology, from single cylinder testing to a fully installed and operational ABC engine with zero emissions on 100% hydrogen.

ABC's green development initiative for hydrogen engines, known as BeHydro, a joint venture with CMB.TECH, has made remarkable progress in recent years. The paper highlights the extensive work carried out in hydrogen development, focusing on ensuring a safe gas concept with high performance during the research, design, and development phases.

We have demonstrated the efficiency of our internal combustion engines, including both dual fuel hydrogen and spark ignited hydrogen versions, in consuming hydrogen and generating zero emission power.

ABC and CMB.TECH hold a strong belief in the potential of hydrogen for various types of installations. We are dedicated to providing customers with the best solutions, whether its generator sets for land-based power generation installations, marine propulsion systems, or auxiliary gensets. We are at the forefront of a century-long journey in hydrogen and internal combustion engines.

In addition to Luc Mattheeuws' paper and presentation on hydrogen engines, other ABC papers and presentations also received significant attention.

ABC’s R&D Manager, Koen Christianen, presented the revolutionary, future-proof, and fuel-flexible Evolve engines.

Rik De Graeve, Development Engineer Performance, made a paper and presentation on Condition-Based Monitoring (CBM), a predictive maintenance technique for large bore engines.

Finally, the ABC methanol dual fuel engines were shown in the presentations of the FASTWATER consortium, Kompressorenbau Bannewitz (KBB) and Ghent University.

ABC takes immense pride in its team of talented engineers and congratulates them all for their exceptional work!
