BEH2YDRO, joint venture between Anglo Belgian Corporation (ABC) and Compagnie Maritime Belge (CMB), is thrilled to announce its BEH2YDRO dual fuel hydrogen engine project has been selected as winner of the ENERGY GLOBE World Award 2021 in the category Air and ENERGY GLOBE national winner for Belgium.
The Energy Globe Award honours the best projects addressing environmental issues for 20 years. The ceremonies are taking place on a national and international level. This year, more than 2.500 projects aimed at protecting our environment have been submitted by more than 180 participating countries, making the Energy Globe Award today’s most prestigious environmental award. It is awarded annually to projects saving our environment by personal action, sustainable projects or campaigns for raising awareness in sustainability.
In the category AIR of the ENERGY GLOBE World Award 2021, the BEH2YDRO dual fuel hydrogen engine project, together with Norsepower, were chosen as winner. In this category, the organisation is looking for projects that improve air quality and avoid CO2 emissions. It includes projects involving optimization of combustion processes, reduction of greenhouse gases and emissions, indoor air quality, etc.
BEH2YDRO stands for the development of hydrogen applications and:
- reducing CO2 emissions at sea and on land
- investing in R&D
- development of hydrogen dual fuel and spark ignited engines
- storage of hydrogen
- use of hydrogen in various applications
Today, BEH2YDRO engines are already "hydrogen ready" and commercially available in a dual fuel version (85 % H2 gas & 15 % liquid fuel). The first 1 MW dual fuel hydrogen engine has been in operation since 2020. This engine works with a mixture of 85 % hydrogen and 15 % liquid fuel. That means a CO2 reduction of 85 %! The BEH2YDRO dual fuel hydrogen engine is available with 6, 8, 12 or 16 cylinders and has a power output from 1.000 kW up to 2.670 kW.
