ABC completes the Evolve V Engine range with the launch of the 16EV23

01 sep 2026

The new 16EV23 completes ABC’s Evolve V Engine range, offering customers a future-proof and fuel-flexible engine platform designed to keep pace with a changing energy landscape.

Anglo Belgian Corporation (ABC) today unveils the new Evolve 16EV23 at SMM Hamburg, completing the Evolve V Engine range alongside the 12EV23 and 20EV23. The launch marks an important milestone for ABC, as the six-model Evolve family is now complete, comprising the 4EL23, 6EL23 and 8EL23 inline engines and the 12EV23, 16EV23 and 20EV23 V engines.

Since the introduction of the first Evolve engine in 2021, ABC has developed the platform around one fundamental principle: customers should not have to predict which fuel will dominate the future in order to make the right investment today.

The Evolve engine platform combines high efficiency, proven medium-speed engine technology and an innovative, versatile combustion chamber design that enables different fuel and combustion configurations. Depending on the engine model and configuration, Evolve engines can operate on liquid fuels such as biodiesel and HVO, on dual fuel with pilot injection of liquid fuel, or on 100% gas using spark ignition.

This fuel flexibility gives operators, fleet owners and other users the freedom to adapt their engines as their fuel strategy evolves, rather than replacing their expensive core power equipment every time the energy landscape changes. It also provides greater resilience in a world characterised by changing regulations, fuel availability, price volatility and evolving technologies.

The Evolve platform delivers 330 kW per cylinder with single-stage turbocharging and up to 360 kW per cylinder with dual-stage turbocharging. The 4EL23 is available with single-stage turbocharging, while the other Evolve models are available with either single- or dual-stage turbocharging.

A high degree of component commonality across the Evolve family further supports operational and maintenance efficiency, while the platform’s robust design is engineered for reliable 24/7 operation in demanding applications. Developed and manufactured at ABC’s facility in Ghent, Belgium, the Evolve engines build on more than 110 years of engine expertise.

Tim Berckmoes, CEO of ABC, spoke: “With the 16EV23, we complete more than an engine range. We complete a platform designed to give our customers freedom of choice and peace of mind in the future. They can invest in reliable power today while keeping all options open for tomorrow’s fuels and technologies. That is what we mean when we say: we power your future.”

The complete Evolve platform demonstrates ABC’s commitment to providing reliable, efficient and adaptable power solutions for a future that cannot be predicted but where ABC engines are prepared for.
