For the newest Belgian and Dutch replacement of the mine counter measures vessels programme (rMCM), twelve new vessels will be built by the French shipbuilder Kership, a joint venture between Naval Group and Piriou.

The new MCM vessels will be provided with state-of-the-art equipment to combat various threats such as mines, piracy, terrorism, maritime traffic interception, and surveillance of territorial waters. These vessels are important for the future operations of both the Belgian and Dutch Navy to protect the Sea lanes to their respective ports and to contribute to international defence missions.

ABC will provide the ship’s power consisting of 2x 6DZC and a 12VDZC generator sets per ship.

“We are very proud of the selection of ABC engines in this very innovative programme! ABC has proven its large experience as engine manufacturer for the naval industries,” mentioned Jean-Christophe Van Acker, responsible for the naval market. This order confirms the growing interest of Navies around the world for ABC power solutions. It comes right after other recent orders for the Indonesian, French and Argentinian Navies. Our equipment is built to withstand the toughest sea conditions while remaining very easy to operate, service and limit operational costs”.

This program also contributes to strengthen the Belgian Defence Industry with ABC joining a list of other renowned Belgian suppliers who will contribute to the development, production, and maintenance of the MCMV program over the next decades.

“It is an important success for our team, which highlights our strong competence in all marine and navy applications” added Tim Berckmoes, Anglo Belgian Corporation’s CEO.
